Electrolysis
A Studio of Electrolysis, located in Stratford, Ontario has been specializing in the most effective and established method of permanent hair removal for all hair types since 1984. Electrolysis was first developed in 1875 by an American ophthalmologist, Dr. Charles E. Michel, to remove an ingrown eyelash. You can now eliminate the tedious task of waxing, shaving, tweezing, bleaching or using hair removal creams! Electrolysis removes the need for these temporary methods by permanently eliminating the growth cells of unwanted hair. Electrolysis is suitable for all skin tones, for both men and women. This leads to a more attractive and more confident you!
You can be hair free in the areas of your choice. Common areas treated include:
- facial hair such as eyebrows, upper and lower lip, chin, sides of the face, jaw line and neck
- underarms
- breasts
- abdomen
- bikini line
- legs
- shoulders and back
and other body areas.
A written approval from your physician may be needed for the removal of hair in moles and other health concerns (such as Diabetes or a Pacemaker) prior to your treatment. Hair may not be removed from inside the ears or nostrils.
With over 25 years experience, I can help you achieve your goals!
A very fine probe is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft, down to the base of the hair follicle. A small amount of current is then applied to disable the hair growth cells. Each individual's level of comfort during treatment varies. Certain areas of the body are more sensitive to the treatment than others. Some sensation will be felt depending on the sensitivity of the individual and the area being treated. Most of my clients are relaxed throughout the treatment, sensing a slight feeling of heat or a little pinch and some even fall asleep. Topical anaesthetics can be used for extremely sensitive areas. If you have been waxing or tweezing for months or years, the sensation felt is usually less than if you have never touched the area before.
Electrolysis is a process – there will be regrowth and repeated, regular treatments will be necessary. Based on a personal and confidential consultation, a treatment plan that addresses your specific hair removal needs will be designed. It is important to follow the recommended treatment plan to achieve optimum results. Presently inactive follicles also represent a potential for new growth, which may necessitate periodic maintenance for some individuals.
Completion time of an area can be an average of 6-18 months. You will notice your hairs becoming finer, lighter in color and taking longer to re-grow. Visits will become shorter in duration and spaced further apart. The number of treatments necessary varies with each client. There are many factors that are involved in hair growth such as:
- previous use and methods of hair removal
- hair growth cycles
- amount of hair and its structure
- stress
- hormones
- heredity
- medications
A slight reddening of the skin may occur during or immediately after treatment, but this will only last for a short time. Most people have no problems after treatments and you will be given customized home care instructions. Electrolysis is very safe and unlike depilatories or bleaches, no harsh chemicals are used.
The cost of each session is based on 15 minute increments. Treatment sessions can range from 15 minutes to more than an hour depending on the area being treated. When doing the math, consider what you spend on temporary methods and would continue to spend. The cost of razors, waxes and creams can add up. How much is your time worth? Electrolysis is by far the most cost effective solution that will pay off in the long term by saving you money, time and effort. Electrolysis is an investment in you that will continue to yield life-long benefits and satisfaction.
